Dispensing medications

All medications are prescribed by a Veterinary Surgeon. Medications are then dispensed on a daily basis, Monday to Friday. We require at least 48 hours notice for prescriptions. Please also be aware that if medications are ordered on a Friday, they may not be ready until Monday.

Food orders also require 48 hours notice.

If your pet is on long term medication, they will require a health check every 3-6 months.

Written Prescriptions

Clients are advised that written prescriptions are available from this practice. You may obtain prescription only medicines from your veterinary surgeon OR ask for a written prescription to obtain these medications from another veterinary surgery or pharmacy. This can only be done however for animals that are under our care.

Any such prescription, for which a charge will be made, will specify that only a licensed medicine will be dispensed. It would be illegal for a pharmacist to dispense a similar human medicine.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or if immediate treatment is necessary.

The general policy of the practice is to re-assess an animal requiring a repeat prescription at least every 6 months. This may vary with individual circumstances. The standard charge for a re-examination is £29.92. You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medication that may be dispensed for your animal.

Further information on the prices of medicines is available on request.
